Eletrolar Show promotes meeting between Suframa and the BRICS to negotiate incentives for startups
The Superintendence of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (Suframa) will be part of a global project that seeks to reward the best startups that work with the ESG concept in research, development and innovation (RD&I). The invitation was made by the BRICS group, which brings together the world’s five largest emerging economies (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), to the authority that manages the Free Trade Zone, which is linked to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services.
The first negotiations took place during the Eletrolar Show 2024 event, which began on Monday (15) and runs until Thursday (18) at the Transamérica Expo Center in São Paulo. The organization’s representatives and Suframa’s deputy superintendents Waldenir Vieira, for Development and Technological Innovation, and Leopoldo Montenegro, for Projects, negotiated the proposal.
The idea is for the agency to connect institutions benefiting from the Informatics Law in the Manaus Free Trade Zone, in the states of Amazonas, Roraima, Rondônia, Acre and Amapá, so that they can be included in the list of possible recipients of the funds that should soon be made available by the BRICS.
The meeting, negotiated by the General Coordination of Foreign Trade and International Affairs (Cogin/Suframa), is part of the organization’s mission at the Eletrolar Show, which is to actively prospect exhibitors in order to attract investment, strengthen partnerships with representative bodies and attract new industries interested in investing in the Manaus Free Trade Zone.
“They have a proposal for a program to encourage the use of ESG by startups and reward them for it. They want to give the money to be used in the best possible way and that’s why they’ve started spreading the word about the initiative worldwide,” Vieira explained.
The acronym ESG comes from Environmental, Social and Governance, which deals with an organization’s environmental, social and governance practices. The criteria for use follow the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the Global Compact, a worldwide initiative involving the United Nations (UN) and various international entities.
BRICS action is based on the group’s three pillars of cooperation, which are political and security, financial and economic, and cultural and personal. In 2023, five more members joined the BRICS: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Formalization took place in January 2024.
Also taking part in the meeting with Suframa’s deputies were the executive organizer of Eletrolar Show 2024, Roberta Zogbi; the Commercial and Events director of the Brazilian Institute for the Development of International Business Relations, Gilberto Bueno de Morais; the CEO of Graphenano Nanotechnologies Brasil, Nilton Hermida Reigada, and the administrator of Cogin, Adamilton Mourão.
Instant contacts
Suframa technicians also made other important contacts at the start of the 2024 Eletrolar Show, both at the stand provided free of charge by the event organizers and in the corridors of the Transamérica Expo Center. Among the highlights were talks with representatives of MI Oficial Brasil, Shenzhen Gotron Electronic and CVTE Dream-Future.
Suframa also took part in a ceremony organized in honour of the 50th anniversary of Trade Relations between Brazil and China. On the occasion, the president of the Eletrolar group, Carlos Clur, announced another major event to integrate Latin America, scheduled to take place in Mexico.
Trade fair brings industry and retail closer together
For the second year running, Suframa is taking part in the Eletrolar Show, which has reached its 17th edition with the aim of bringing “industry and retail” into contact, under the “technology, business and networking” tripod. The event brings together national and international exhibitors from the Home Appliances, Electronics, Technology and Innovation, Retail and Distribution sectors.
All the meetings organized by Grupo Eletrolar aim to offer an immersion in the latest news and trends in the sector, based on B2B multimedia and the integration of various communication and business channels between the industry and the retailers of electrical and electronic goods, household appliances, cell phones, furniture, household appliances, lighting and Information Technology (IT).
