Consumer goods sector advances in the first half of the year

Data was revealed at the opening press conference of Eletrolar Show & Latin American Electronics 2019

The Eletrolar Show & Latin American Electronics program was started with a press conference that revealed the latest data from the Brazilian electronics industry, related to the first half of this year.

After the initial greeting from the President of Grupo Eletrolar, Carlos Clur, who presented the general data of the event, the President of the National Association of Manufacturers of Home Appliances and Consumer Electronics Products (Eletros), José Jorge Nascimento, took the floor to share the balance of the sector. points to sales growth in volume in the first six months of 2019, driven by the white and mobile segments.

In the case of the white line, which was the highlight of the balance sheet, the volume increased by 13%, from 6.7 million units sold in the first half of 2018 to 7.6 million units sold by the industry in the first six months of this year. The balance recorded by the notebook segment was also relevant, of 10%. In total, 32.3 million units of items belonging to this line were produced.

Already the performance of the brown line, in turn, points to a retraction of 16%. According to the President of Eletros, the difference between the periods is justified by seasonality, since the previous year had the World Cup, a date that traditionally boosts television sales in the first half.

“Considering the sector as a whole, we have a positive balance in the volume produced. Now we have a very positive scenario ahead, marked by Black Friday, Christmas and the injection of the 13th salary into the economy. There are several opportunities for the second half that lead us to project a year of growth for the sector,” said Nascimento.

At the time, the President of Eletros also discussed other issues related to the Brazilian macroeconomy, such as social security and tax reforms, as well as the proposal for trade liberalization that is being discussed by the government. On this subject, in particular, he vehemently argued that this step should be done gradually and with great balance so that the Brazilian industry is not harmed due to the inevitable increase in competitiveness.

The opening press conference for Eletrolar Show & Latin American Electronics 2019 also featured the announcements from Google’s New Business Development Head Alessandro Germano and the President of the São Paulo City Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SP Negócios), Juan Quirós.
