REVERSE LOGISTICS OF ELECTRO-ELECTRONICS: A YEAR OF ACHIEVEMENTS AND GREAT CHALLENGES

Executive Manager of Green Eletron
In 2021, we completed the first year of structuring and quantitative goals for the recycling of post-consumer electronic products in Brazil. It took 365 days of hard work, but we managed, with a lot of effort, to reach the goals and advance regarding Law 12,305/2010, or the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS).
Even with the unstable economy, which is still suffering from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, which continues to haunt us, we managed to close the year with more than 800 Voluntary Delivery Points for electronics and 7,000 batteries distributed throughout Brazil.
Undoubtedly, this result would not have materialized without the participation of manufacturers, importers, distributors, and traders. These segments have been moving positively to promote mechanisms that facilitate the population’s adherence and awareness of the importance of separating and correctly disposing of this waste type – extremely valuable for the economy and for the reverse logistics cycle.
This year and upcoming years will be even more challenging. By 2025, we have gradual targets for collection and recycling, which will reach 17% of what was produced in the base year 2018. And we will have collection points in 100% of cities with more than 80 thousand inhabitants. This means bigger engagement and a lot of work from the entire sector, so that the gears in this logistic keep working. The consumer is an essential part for the entire cycle to continue working and promoting improvements for the economy and the environment.
