ARTICLE – GREEN ELETRON

Retailers, the reverse logistics needs you

Ademir Brescansin:
Executive manager at Green Eletron

In addition to manufacturers, importers, and consumer electronics distributors, retailers are responsible for the disposal of what they sell. Their obligations are outlined in Decree 10,240/20 and the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS).

Retail not only participates in the lifecycle of products but is also the primary point of contact with consumers. Stores must help raise awareness and encourage the population to dispose of items correctly, which can even occur in these environments through the installation of Voluntary Drop-off Points (PEVs).

However, there is still much room for improvement. Some networks have yet to provide spaces for this purpose, and even those with collection points installed have not invested in communication, hindering collective results. For the system to work, consumers need to know and have easy access to drop-off locations.

I invite Brazilian retailers (those still outside) to effectively integrate into this cycle. The socio-environmental benefits are significant, and it is also advantageous for brand reputation. Citizens are already demanding genuine sustainability measures.

We have been meeting the targets set by the law, but to be realistic, it is becoming increasingly challenging. The pressure grows exponentially year by year, and the participation of all links in the circular economy is key to keeping the system functioning. Are you ready to join us?
