2025: A Decisive Year for Reverse Logistics of Electronic Waste in Brazil

At the beginning of a new year, it is impossible not to look back to set goals and understand the challenges of the year that has just begun. This applies both to personal life and to professional endeavors.

When it comes to the reverse logistics of electronic waste, batteries, and end-of-life accumulators, the area in which Green Eletron operates as the largest managing entity in the sector in Brazil, 2025 carries special significance.

According to the Sectoral Agreement and Federal Decree No. 10,240/20 for the reverse logistics of electronic products and their components, by the end of this year, all Brazilian municipalities with more than 80,000 inhabitants must have Voluntary Drop-off Points (PEVs), with one for every 25,000 inhabitants, totaling 5,050 collection points and covering 65% of the population.

Furthermore, the collection and environmentally responsible final disposal target for manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers is the largest and most challenging since the law came into effect: 17% of the volume placed on the Brazilian market in 2018, approximately 12,000 tons.

Despite such ambitious goals, experience has shown that, with hard work, it is possible to meet them, as we have done over the years. However, for us to move forward, it is essential that the government, manufacturers, importers, distributors, retailers, and the population each do their part, so that in the near future, we can become a more conscious society regarding its role in the circular economy.
