Reverse logistics for electronics, batteries and batteries: nine years of progress and learning in the sector

Executive manager of Green Eletron
Since its foundation nine years ago, Green Eletron has led the transformation of reverse logistics for electronics, batteries refill and batteries in Brazil. During this period, the volume collected grew year after year, reflecting the population’s awareness and companies’ adherence to the circular economy model. But we are still far from ideal.
The National Solid Waste Policy (Federal Law No. 12,305/2010) and Federal Decree No. 10,240/2020 determine that manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers are responsible for implementing a system to collect and dispose of post-consumer products in an environmentally correct manner. Companies that do not adhere to reverse logistics systems are subject to penalties, including environmental sanctions and trade restrictions.
More than complying with legislation, investing in reverse logistics strengthens the reputation of brands and creates business opportunities. Consumers are increasingly aware of companies’ social and environmental responsibility, and retailers can become great allies by providing collection points and educating the public.
Green Eletron has expanded its collection network and invested in innovation to make this process more efficient. But this is a collective responsibility. The future of sustainability in the electronics sector depends on the engagement of the entire chain. Companies that anticipate and adopt responsible practices not only contribute to the environment but also ensure their relevance in an increasingly demanding market.
