New Meta VR Headset Launching in October, Zuckerberg Says
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has announced that the company’s new VR headset will launch in October. The launch will take place at Meta’s Connect conference. He went on to say that this new headset will focus on users’ social presence and will have new technological capabilities to boost that presence, like face-tracking and eye-tracking. These capabilities will enable users’ avatars to display their own facial expressions and possibly eye movement, allowing for more non-verbal forms of communication while in the Metaverse. There is no specific name for the new headset as of yet.
Meanwhile, on the gaming front LG has announced a very wide, 45-in. gaming monitor with a curved OLED display. The monitor is called UltraGear 45GR95QE and one of the major selling points is its 240Hz refresh rate. Those in the gaming world will remark upon the UltraGear’s combination of high refresh rate and OLED display as most OLED displays have a 120Hz refresh rate cap. LG plans to display the UltraGear 45GR95QE at IFA in September.
Finally, Petra Industries, distributor of wholesale electronics, has announced its partnership with XGIMI, a prominent projector company that provides both home theater and portable projection systems. “Home theater continues to be vital market for our customers, and we’re always looking for new vendor partners that offer innovative products,” said Tate Morgan, Petra President, in a press release. “XGIMI offers powerful, top-of-the-line projectors we’re sure will enhance our customers’ home theater offerings.”
