Father’s Day Special – Gamers

The maturing of the Brazilian gamer market has advanced in recent years. Doubled growth in both game consumption and development. In the pandemic, those who kept their income had more time to consume games. Those who did not play began to be interested and those who already played began to do so even more. “This movement was very good for the world gamer industry”, says the president of the Brazilian Association of Digital Game Developers (Abragames), Rodrigo Terra.

Data from the Games Brazil Research (PGB) reveal that the country currently has 95 million people who play games, that is, almost half of the population, says Rodrigo. “We have a change in the profile of the gamer population, which is already massive, and we believe that this is a great catalyst for the market. But there is still room, even, for the national games themselves to grow, since they are known abroad, but not played much here.”

Brazil is the fifth largest consumer market for games in the world on any platform (mobile, console and PC). Consequently, there is a lot of room to grow. “But we are only the thirteenth in development, that is, we still have a lot of work to do to position the country as a major producer. We are already great consumers, so Abragames’ job is to continue promoting the national market to position us as one of the great producers”, explains the association’s president.

Numbers attract

The number of accessories for the gamer market is extensive and they all sell well. Notebooks, monitors, keyboards, mice and headsets grew 84% in revenue in 2020, compared to 2019. Last year, the increase in revenue was 95% over 2020. In sales volume, there was a growth of 56% in 2019 and 60% in 2021, over the respective previous years according to data from the research firm GfK.

Numbers attract companies. “LG is increasingly embedded in it. In 2021 alone, the global market increased its revenue by 12%, reaching $195 billion. In 2022, the projection is that the world market and the Brazilian market can grow again in the double digits. For this reason, we believe that the entire value chain can take ownership of this rapidly growing market. We gained 11 market share points in the segment”, says Leonardo Almeida, IT and B2B product manager at LG Brasil.

In recent years, the segment has shown significant sales results, says Luiz Sakuma, product director at Lenovo. “The growth is mainly driven by the mobility that the products offer, delivering, today, the same performance as consoles and desktops in the category. The pandemic has changed the way people work, study and play, and gaming devices have been sought after due to their high performance, enabling them to be used for activities other than gaming.”

Market is growing

The Brazilian market is one of the most important in the world, attests Gilson Crippa, commercial director of XT Racer. “We currently have more than 90 million players, whether on mobile or a powerful computer. We are still at the beginning of the fastest growing market in the world, more than cinema, television and football. Its growth is extremely superior and incomparable to other segments.”

Especially in the pandemic, the gamer market did well. “The entry of many desktop games into the mobile version has further accelerated the inclusion of smartphone accessories. The growth of the gamer line generated a lot of competition, but the gamer audience is specialist and differentiates products with guarantee and quality. I believe there is room for launches, following the new technologies”, says Jeferson Ferrão, CEO of iWill.

Globally, the market continues to grow. “In Brazil, the sector is still maturing and offers good possibilities for expansion and the presentation of novelties, as we perceive consumers of different ages interested in electronic games”, says John Zak, commercial director of X-Zone.

It is a mature market, but with room to grow, says Guilherme Kenji, product coordinator at Multilaser. “The category has been operating for many years, so there is a considerable number of players and products on offer. “However, because it involves several companies and compatibility issues, it is not always easy to be able to provide accessories that can be multiplatform, that is, compatible with all consoles and computers.”

Father’s Day

The date can record high sales rates, says Milton Júnior, product manager at Acer Brasil. “The gaming universe started with children and teenagers, but it has been part of the adult world for a long time, so Father’s Day is increasingly significant for this segment. The pandemic, which made people stay in their homes, gave the opportunity and a longer time to get to know the gamer world, its games, with competition even between parents and children.”

Commemorative dates always help sales, and the category has different audiences, it’s not limited to players. “We can’t forget about the graphic design, editing and content production fathers, who demand great performance for their high-end projects. We expect sales to be approximately 40% higher than in 2021,” says Andresa Palma, marketing manager at OEX Game.

The biggest target on the date, however, are the fathers who like to play. “They represent a large part of our audience, they are the best in the art of integration with their children, they make each activity remarkable and enjoyable. Today, there is an increase in demand for console and PC controllers, along with headsets. This is because parents are closer to their children during leisure time”, believes Francimar da Silva, Maxprint’s national sales manager! Dazz.

This closer relationship is a stimulus to the expansion of categories that are part of the gamer segment, says Cristiane Clausen, general director of Philco. “We have seen a significant increase in the number of fathers getting involved in the gamer universe, accompanying their children, in the gameplays and gaming communities. With the popularization of the habit among this audience, we see the opportunity of a record sales of our products.”

Product variety

The diversity of options is great for the date and, in addition to computers and notebooks, it includes joysticks, gaming chairs, HD monitors, console accessories, microphones, headsets, soundbar, webcams, headphones, wireless keyboards, chargers, speakers and a multitude of other items. The market is increasingly equipped.

Gaming headsets are among the most sought-after products, says Luciano Sasso, vice president of sales and marketing for the South American consumer audio category at Harman, which owns the JBL brand. “This occurs due to increased demand and user requests for higher quality headphones. In addition, we believe that the constant updating of products and the variety of options are crucial to maintain the great interest in our solutions. We cater to the needs of all consumer, whether they are a casual gamer, an enthusiast or even a professional.”

The gamer category is on the rise, highlights Kauê Salvatti, country manager Brazil at Trust. “With this, we believe that the commemorative dates greatly influence sales. We bet a lot on our products, so much so that we invest in partnerships over the months to make them reach more and more to the final consumer. We believe in an 18% growth in sales, in these seasonal dates.”

This market evolution always makes room for companies with the technologies of the moment, says Fabio Wei, communications analyst at Xtrad. We prepare for Father´s Day date, as the Brazilian market is especially connected to technology. We expect a 20% increase in sales compared to last year, a significant number due to the wide range of products.”


ACER

It has two families of notebooks in the gamer segment, manufactured in Brazil. The Nitro 5 has 11th Gen Intel Core i5, i7 and Ryzen 7 processors, 8GB RAM, 512SSD alternatives, 1TB SSD and hybrid. It also offers GTX 1650 and RTX 3050 video cards and equipment with Windows 11. The machines are enabled for RAM and storage upgrades. They have a backlit keyboard, differentiated design and the Nitro Sense Acer tool to control the performance of the products.

The Predator Helios 300 family has options with an 11th generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB, 512SSD AND 1 TB SDD, NVIDIA RTX 3060 and 3070 graphics cards and Windows 11. Aimed at the professional level, the devices are enabled for memory upgrades RAM and storage. They have a 4-zone RGB keyboard, Predator Sense and a 144 Hz refresh rate screen for those passionate about fluidity. The line also takes the 5th generation of AeroBlade technology, a cooling system that provides more airflow compared to other fans, even in the most intense competitions.

Highlights the specific line, the LG UltraGear™, which provides the best experience for gamers in both Wide 16:9 and UltraWide 21:9 format, from 24” to 34”. Newly released, the LG UltraGear™ 27GN750 monitor has 240 Hz refresh rate and 1ms real response time, 27” screen in 16:9 aspect ratio, IPS panel and Full HD resolution, attributes that convey the richness of details of games. MAXPRINT | DAZZ

The brands of Grupo Rio Branco offer two products for parents. One of them is the Kondzilla chair, entirely crafted in metal and PVC. It has 4D armrest, reclining backrest up to 180°, adjustable seat, class 4 piston and high-density foam. It has a butterfly-type adjustment mechanism.
