Father’s Day Special- Televisions
by Dilnara Titara
Commemorative dates usually increase sales of premium products. Therefore, the expectation is for growth in the market for larger televisions, which offer better resolution and image quality. During Father’s Day and with the World Cup approaching, nothing is more opportune than introducing the new category products to the market.
Both occasions are a stimulus to consumption in all Brazilian regions. The appeal is strong and can yield good moves in the economy. “It is very common to have a higher volume of TV sales in World Cup years. It is already a seasonality expected by the market and the industry”, says Bruno Morari, director of product, marketing and market intelligence at Grupo TPV
The conversion to televisions with larger screens is great. The consumer waits for special dates to invest in a product with superior image and sound quality and, thus, have the best experience when watching the games. “This is the moment that marks a growth in the volume of pieces sold and, also, in the value of the average ticket”, says Cristiane Clausen, general director of Philco.

Time to invest
The restrictions of recent years have changed people’s consumption habits, who have started to look for products aimed at comfort, entertainment and that facilitate the routine of the home, says Thaís Meglior, TV products manager at Samsung Brazil. “In this context, the TV has become the entertainment center in the home, and the search for premium products has a lot to do with this behavior. It is within this scenario that we see the possibility of success for devices with large screens.”
Premium products, which feature state-of-the-art technology, continue to be a trend. The demand for these devices increases, as they bring comfort to family moments, says Cíntia Viani, marketing manager for LG televisions. “Brazil is considered the country of football, and the company expects the sales volume of televisions to be high, as consumers take advantage of the date to adopt the best image and sound technologies.”
As it is the year of the World Cup, we believe that televisions with large screens will be the most sought-after products, especially in the second half of the year, says Nikolas Corbacho, product manager at SEMP TCL. “We should have a market about 8% to 10% higher in sales volume when compared to 2021, greatly boosted by the dates of the second half, which should motivate growth in consumption, especially for screens over 50 inches.”
